Resilient Women in Farming Project – Uganda
Farming Project
This is a new project which got kick-started in late 2017 for agribusiness activities as well as to house our second shelter home. Nakawuka is a bit far off of town life, serene and has rich capable lands for our proposed model of environmentally-friendly organic farming, poultry rearing and a piggery. Our very own girls will offer labour and once all is up & running, this project will sustain our learning packages and some feeding needs.
At Resilient Women’s Organization – Uganda encourages youth to engage in agriculture and support them to learn best farming practices. We encourage and support the youth to start agriculture enterprises for nutritional supplements and income generation such as kitchen gardening, poultry, piggery, goats keeping etc. We have demonstration gardens at the youth centre where youth get practical lessons and after they are given seeds especially, greens to go and plant in their respective homes. We support the vulnerable young people with seeds and livestock such as goats, pigs, chicken among other trades to start and manage their own agriculture ventures.
Additionally Resilient Women’s Organization – Uganda offers Farming projects which aims at improving food nutrition at household level whereby we encourage women and youth to contribute towards their nutritional welfare so that they can improve their health.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”209″ img_size=”full” el_id=”Farming-young-girls – Resilient-Young-Girls” el_class=”Farming-young-girls – Resilient-Young-Girls-uganda”][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-plus-square” add_icon=”true” title=”HIV AWARENESS PROJECT-” tab_id=”hap-trophydevelopers”][vc_column_text el_id=”hiv-resilient-women” el_class=”hiv-resilient-women-clas”]
HIV AWARENESS PROJECT
With Uganda’s HIV prevalence rates on the rise among younger individuals especially teen mothers, we decided to join the rest of the health sector in further spreading the message that HIV is preventable.
HIV/AIDS prevention program contributes to achieving the UNAIDS 2016–2021 global strategy for ending HIV epidemic which is a call to reach the 90-90-90 treatment targets whereby: By 2020, 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status. The 90-90-90 treatment targets aims at closing the testing gap and to protecting people living with HIV who are still not accessing treatment.
Resilient Women’s Organization – Uganda operates a youth friendly health centre in Wakiso district which offers a wide range of youth friendly health services including, HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT), Psychological consultation, Immunization, Family planning services, Antenatal care, diagnosis and treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). Our combined HIV prevention interventions also targets key populations such as sex workers, men who have sex with men, people who inject drugs, transgender people, prisoners, plantation workers, Entebbe fishing communities, mobile transport operators and truckers.
Our community health volunteer teams actively take part in providing access to HIV counseling and testing especially for children, adolescents and adults in urban and rural communities where access to such services is difficult. Accessibility to HIV counseling and testing services enable them know their status and all who test positive are referred to health facilities for care and treatment services. We make effective follow to the health facilities to ensure that all HIV positive young girls or women referred for care are initiated and retained in care so as to have complete viral load suppression.
Our positive living group also helps us during the outreaches in partnership with health personnel. Young women especially need to know that they can take positive charge of their own bodies and life’s decisions.
Early Infant Diagnosis (EID)
Resilient Women’s Organization – Uganda promotes early infant diagnosis for all exposed infants and works with health facilities to ensure that they access appropriate services. We also conduct community and home-based targeted HIV Counseling and testing services to enable all exposed children to know their status and those diagnosed HIV are linked into care and treatment.
Our unique approaches to community HIV prevention program
- Resilient Women’s Organization – Uganda’s Music dance and drama live shows
- Film plays. Containing all the information young people need to know about HIV so as to make informed choices.
- Community outreaches with live shows as well as HIV counseling and testing services and reproductive health services in schools, trading centers, churches and mosques.
- Annual Memorial Candlelight’s to remember all our dear ones whom we lost of HIV and remind the community of our responsibility to preventive new HIV infections

Women Empowerment Project
With our project in Kigungu, we work with community leaders to further spread our empowerment program to the vulnerable young women we found in this community. We may not be able to give shelter to all but they can avail of our different educational programs. Some of the lessons being shared with the young women include crafts, business studies, math, health, English, traditional dance, among others.
Womens Shelter Project
With this project Resilient Women’s Organization – Uganda offers shelter to teen mothers and young women in the form of full lodging inclusive of meals. We work with local council leaders in our community to identify those women who truly need a hand. Resilient Women’s Organization – Uganda operates two shelter homes, with our main home sheltering 15 young women & 6 babies under the age of one. Our other shelter home is new & smaller housing 7 women. We always have a bed for a teen mother plus child in need of a place to reboot and find reformation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-graduation-cap” add_icon=”true” title=”Back to School Sponsorship Program” tab_id=”btssp-trophydevelopers”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn” el_id=”uganda-website-designers-tophy-developers” el_class=”donate-to-africa”]
a) Back To School Sponsorship Program
What Is Back to School Sponsorship?
Back to School sponsorship program is the most cost-effective way to end child poverty.
It not only addresses a child’s immediate physical needs, it also builds self-esteem and self-respect. In the past 3 years, the cost of school supplies and extracurricular activities has gone up 88% for elementary schools, 81% for middle schools, and 68% for high schools.
Most of the girls & children at our shelters and outreach programs have had to drop out of school due to the high cost of education in Uganda, and high cost of living. Books, and pencils are just a few of the supply’s children need to be successful in school. Sadly, kids in Uganda (developing country) often can’t afford these.
Many have to share with classmates or simply go without.
You can help fix that!
Our special back-to-school gift will provide necessary school supplies for your sponsored child as well as for other students in sponsored child’s program.
Yet it is clear that to educate a woman is to educate the entire nation. This is the essence of our Back to School Program. Child sponsorship for Back to School is the most cost-effective way to end child poverty. It not only addresses a child’s immediate physical needs, it also builds self-esteem and self-respect.
Through monthly financial support, prayer and letter writing, sponsors invest directly in the lives of children living in extreme poverty.
As we gear our efforts towards finding permanent solutions to unemployment and poverty in the lives of vulnerable young women from disadvantaged backgrounds, this program bridges together young women eager for an education and potential sponsors.
Through our Back to School Program sponsorship program we address every major aspect of a child’s well-being, every element that he or she needs to survive, develop and thrive. We work to address each child’s spiritual, economic, social and physical needs.
